My Story
After nearly three decades of teaching art in public schools, my world — like everyone’s — changed dramatically during the global pandemic.
In the stillness of that time, I rediscovered something I’d lost in the rush of everyday life: a sense of presence. The world slowed down, and I began to appreciate how deeply connected creativity and mindfulness really are.
When life sped back up, I knew I didn’t want to return to “normal.” I wanted to move forward — to build something that reflected those lessons and share it with others.
Creating Heron Hill Yoga was my way of doing that — blending the creativity of art with the grounding practice of yoga, and sharing it with my community.
Art and yoga both invite us to be curious, compassionate, and fully alive. Every class, every painting, every breath is a reminder to keep growing.

We support and celebrate one another on and off the mat.
Kristin W. Buchholz
I’m an artist, educator, and lifelong student of mindfulness. I earned a Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University and a master’s in education from Harvard University. I’m certified in Trauma-Informed Yoga & Mental Health First Aid and completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training through Radiant Child & Family Yoga. Also certified in Kripalu Yoga in the Schools, I bring yoga to schools and local businesses as community outreach.
For decades, I’ve helped students of all ages explore creativity and self-expression. Now, through Heron Hill Yoga, I get to do that in a new way — by sharing my own space to explore movement, art, and breath to help others find peace, healing, and personal freedom. We are all here learning & growing together, so let's
expand our view!

Artist
My studio is part of the Allegany Artisans Studio Tour, where I open my doors each year to share my artwork and creative process with the community.
You’ll find paintings inspired by stillness, movement, and the landscapes that remind us to breathe.

Welcome to Heron Hill Yoga
This space grew out of my love for both art and yoga — two practices that have shaped my life and continue to teach me how to slow down, find my center, and live creatively, with an open mind and compassionate heart.
Heron Hill Yoga is a place to move, breathe, and reconnect — with yourself, with your community, and with the simple beauty of the present moment.
